Mission
To insure that the Communities of Pueblo County have governance that integrates and maximizes diverse community participation as a positive and earnest part of decision-making, and that public policy decisions reflect fiscal responsibility and accountability to our citizens.
Vision
In the year 2020, the Communities of Pueblo County have broad-based citizens participation in local issues and election of candidates. There is a marked increase in development of citizenship and leadership skills among the various groups of people who comprise the communities. The citizens invest in and insist upon the highest ethical and professional standards in governments personnel and management. The community invests in the professional development of its managers and employees to insure the greatest production capability in the services they provide, including cost effectiveness and efficiency.
Goal 1To increase efficiencies and effectiveness of City and County government through cooperation, coordination, consolidation, or other creative and innovative efforts through the year 2004.
Objective 1Recommend a course of action on the issue of City-County consolidation of services by April 30, 2002.
Strategies
1. Identify and evaluate consolidation efforts in other communities by October 31, 2001.
2. Identify and evaluate how local government currently operates by December 31, 2001.
3. Share information and discuss issues with City and County department heads and elected officials by February 28, 2002.
4. Develop recommendations and present final report to City and County officials by April 30, 2002.
Objective 2Work with City and County to further pursue efforts for possible cost savings, effectiveness and efficiencies in local government through December 31, 2004.
